I'm new to the Philly market and looking for opportunities in special events or nonprofit. I am open to networking opportunities. I have an excellent work ethic and want to contribute. I am reaching out for direction......

Since you are open to networking, you should look at the multiple events listed throughout June and July on PhillyJobs website to see if you are able to attend any of them. They range from breakfasts to dinners and mixers to happy hours and are all throughout the week so you are able to choose what best fits your schedule. Also, on beyond.com there are numerous articles on networking and the best way to do it. In addition to networking in person, you should think about creating a LinkedIn username, if you have not already done so, which will also help you get in touch with many different companies. Networking is a great way to get your foot in the door and to begin the job searching process.

wow, alot of good advice, but what happened to the days of just walking into a business that you were interested in, and were qualified for the job, and talking with a manager? These days, you have to go online, fill out 1oo papers, then hope someone calls. In my case, Im almost 50, so I dont get calls, even though I m a former model, and dont look anywhere near 50, I am having a very hard time finding a good nursing job. so, what else do you suggest?
