Good Groups or Places for Effective Networking

I've been living in Philadelphia for the past three years, following graduation from college.  I've joined the usual networking groups - the local chapter of my college alumni association, the local chapter of my industry association - but I'm looking to branch out to other professional groups in Philadelphia to grow my network and ultimately advance my career.

I'm looking for active groups, where I can contribute to more than just the next happy hour, and meet similarly talented, well connected professionals along the way.  Does anyone have suggestions, or better yet positive experiences with local professional groups?

The Young Professionals group seems like a good fit for your demographic, but can be controversial as far as effective professional networking.  It is, however, always an interesting social networking opportunity, if you're interested in building contacts in that sense.  Either way, their website lists a directory of all types of networking groups in Philadelphia, and may be a good resource for you to get started:  http://www.networkinphilly.com/philadelphia-area-business-networking-groups.asp.

There is an organization in the city called Innovation Philadelphia.  Among other things, they are dedicated to keeping our city's young talent in Philadelphia.  They list a number of resources for young professionals, as well as a list of young professional organizations on their website.  Check it out.
